Veins carry non-oxygenated blood from lower extremities and other organs back to the heart. The disease noted are mostly due to either thrombosis (clot formation) in the vein hence leading to obstruction of flow back to the heart, or dilatation of the vein (varicose) leading to reverse flow of blood back to the lower extremities.
